Arthur
was the last puppy in his litter to go off to his new home. It
took a while to find just the right owner, but when I met
Grace I knew she and Arthur would be a perfect
match. Arthur was a little more laid back then his
brothers but just as equally friendly. He has
adjusted well to life in the Windy City & his Mom is
great about getting him out into the country every
now and then.
Grace
was new to the world of dog shows and performance
events when she got Arthur but she was eager to
explore all the dog world had to offer. When Arthur
was 6 months they began hitting the show ring. Grace
quickly caught on to the show ring procedure and
soon was handling Arthur with confidence.
Within a
short time this team earned their first points with
style by acquiring a 3 point major. As Grace's
confidence grew the wins started rolling in. Grace
surprised us all by handling Arthur to a Best In Puppy Sweeps at
the 2007 FRFSC specialty. Not bad for a novice team!
Grace and Arthur continued their winning ways and 3 majors & one year after
their first show Grace finished Arthur's
championship.
When he turned two years old Grace
decide to have Arthur test the waters as a specials.
With his wonderful attitude Arthur quickly took to
handlers as if they had always been his best friend.
With his charming attitude, gorgeous side gait and
substance Arthur found himself in the winners
circles multiple times and soon was in the top ten
for the breed. He garnered multiple Best of Breeds
over ranked dogs and the group placements were
rolling in. As Arthur was still a young boy it was
decided after 6 months of showing to give him a well
deserved break. So after July of 2009 he was shown sparingly
for the rest of the year. Even with being shown
infrequently over the next six months Arthur still
remained number 12 for All Breed and Number 9 in Breed for
Field Spaniels for 2009.
In 2010 Arthur started up his show career under the
expert handling of professional handler Diane
Engelking. In a very short time he has already
started to see great success in the show ring.
Arthur has already taken multiple best of breed wins
including a best of breed at the FSSA Supported
entry in Indiana. That same weekend Arthur headed to
the big apple to make his first Westminster debut.
Even with all the travel Arthur's outstanding
temperament and show presence came shining through.
With the largest entry of Field Spaniels in
Westminster history Arthur found himself in the
Winner's Circle with an Award of Merit win! Many thanks to
owner Grace Elliott and handler Diane Engelking
for the beautiful presentation of Arthur to this
prestigious win.
Watch for Arthur and Diane in the specials ring as
this team is just getting started and there will be
surely more exciting wins on the way!
