About Us :

My love for Field Spaniels began in 1996 when I acquired my first Field Spaniel, Maplesugar a Wish Come True “Rio”. Since then my love and devotion for the breed has grown with each passing year. Over the years I have had the pleasure of showing my Fields not only in conformation, but obedience and other performance events as well. I am very proud of my dogs and their many accomplishments. We have achieved placements in obedience and rally, met requirements for the Hall of Fame and earned the first TDX on a Field Spaniel bitch.

In the fall of 2004 I met my husband Jay. Although new to showing dogs Jay has taken everything in stride. Jay has participated in the training of the girls for their various performance events. He soon became adamant about having his own dog to work with after watching Paige acquire her TD title. I simply feel blessed to not only have a wonderful man in my life, but one that shares my love of the dogs.

In January of 2008 we welcomed our son Josh to our family. Josh is our pride and joy and we are a little biased as we think he is the cutest baby ever.  We don't know yet if handling dogs will be in his future as that will be up to him. The Fields love Josh and to date the only issue has been convincing Phoebe that we are worthy enough to take care of her baby Josh!

Many thanks to breeder Kristy Hill of Catera Field Spaniels for sharing her wonderful dogs with me. They truly embrace the idea of “one dog that does it all”.

About the name “Killara”:

When I was in Australia on vacation, I was enamored with the relaxed atmosphere and the exquisite beauty the country possesses. I loved my time that I spent there admiring the artwork of the various cultures. I came across an aboriginal dictionary and found the word killara <pronounced kil-lar-a>. Killara is an aboriginal word that means “permanent place”. This reflected how Jay and I feel about the dogs that are always a part of our home and will always occupy a permanent place in our hearts. Consequently, the kennel name Killara was chosen to represent our Field Spaniels
