Often in life things throw you a twist and simply send you in a new direction. Mai Tye gave us two beautiful litters of all boys but failed to add any girls to the mix. (Mai Tye has clarified it is not her fault as she has no part in deciding the sex of puppies). So we found ourselves with some lovely boys and no girls. I wasn't quite sure what to do, when fate intervened. Another breeder offered me a bitch from her litter. At first I thought...no thanks- but then I thought well why not?
After I studied the pedigree and thought about it more, I decided I needed drive to Ohio to look at puppies. There was no mistaking things when I put Suki up on the table- at 5 weeks she could stack like a pro, never flitching. It didn't matter how many times I took her down and put her back up she was always spot on! I left Ohio totally hooked on my girl and started counting down to the day Suki was coming home.
Suki has really been a special addition to the household. She has the most amazing attitude. Extremely outgoing and very biddable this girl is a blast to work with. Suki has been working hard at hunt training and is currently working being steadied to wing and shot. She has a lovely soft mouth and a fantastic nose and her speed can rival any field bred cocker. With an attitude bigger than life, I am sure we shall be having a lot of fun with her! Often the hardest part about training her is getting her to tone down her excitement so that she has 4 feet on the ground! Suki will be tested in the various venues to see where this girl excels. We look forward to what the future will bring this lovely girl.
Her first show was the 2012 FSSA National Specialty- Suki was handled by junior Grace Kofron and the two made an excellent team! Suki took 1st place in her class in both Sweeps and the National! Not bad for a baby's first show! A few weeks later Suki attended her 2nd show which was FSSA supported entry in Toledo. Handled by junior Janice-Rose Pritchard Suki once again found herself in the winners circle as she and Janice walked away with a big 4 point major! These were Suki's first points and we are grateful to have Janice on the Killara team!
Suki finished her Championship in 2013 with 4 majors and which included a 4 point major Best of Breed win over specials! In the fall of 2013 we decided to try Suki out at just one hunt test to see how she would fare. We Suki did an amazing job! She earned two legs towards her junior hunt title and received some very nice scores from the judges.
