This girl is our long awaited English import. We wanted to bring an English import into our breeding program to help us acquire some traits we felt were lacking in the Field Spaniels of the United States. I started researching various pedigrees and watching the kennels abroad. My hope was to find a breeder that not only had wonderful dogs but also had the same mindset as I did when it came to breeding. My list of what I wanted was a long and demanding list- temperament, health, structure and breed type. I kept watching for which dogs were consistently in the winner’s circle and that is when I came to notice the Elgert Field Spaniels.
Elgert Field Spaniels has a very long history in breed and they have produced some of the top winning dogs in England. I struck up a friendship with the owner/breeder Gretel Osborn to learn more about her dogs and lines. Over the last 5-6 years we have become friends and it wasn't until this year I inquired about obtaining a puppy from her. Much to my surprise, I was delighted to learn that she was not only planning on doing a breeding but also was breeding to a sire that was one of my favorite boys. So fingers were crossed and I was so thrilled to hear that 5 girls were born! My joy went to tenfold when I found myself at the front of the line to get a girl. This was such an amazing opportunity that I will forever be grateful for as it meant I could choose a puppy that best suited my needs. I was beyond delighted!
When the pups were a little over 8 weeks old my family and I packed up for a week in England to meet the breeder and her fabulous dogs. I got to meet the sire and dam, half siblings, all of Gretel's dogs and I was really able to get to known the dog that she produces. I was immensely impressed by their temperaments, breed type and structure. They were everything I hoped for and more.
Tuesday has become SUCH an important part of the family. Our son Josh, who has some physical limitations due to Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, wanted to do performance with one of the dogs. Not sure who would work with him the best we tried each dog. Well it turned out he and Tuesday are the perfect fit! Together they have been competing in Barn Hunt and having great success! What is even more amazing is the new found confidence that Josh has now that he has Tuesday at his side! We are hoping to get this great team involved in more performance events in the years to come!
We are proud to announce that Tuesday's father BIS SH CH / IR SH CH Kingsmist Eternal Knight SH CM "Alfie" won his 29th CC equaling the male record for most CC won in England. Alfie has also gone Best In Show in England as well! We are very proud of Tuesday's dad and are honored to have his daughter with us here at Killara!
